From celebrated production company, Brother Wolf, and five-time award-winning actor/writer, James Hyland, comes a unique one-man show: A Christmas Carol – As told by Jacob Marley (deceased). Told from the perspective of Scrooge’s deceased business partner, this critically acclaimed theatrical adaptation promises thrills, chills and excitement aplenty for all age groups.

Jacob Marley is dead and condemned to an eternity of carrying a heavy chain, forged in life; a life to which he can no longer return except to recount the tale of his miserly business partner, Ebenezer Scrooge, and the path that lead to his redemption. Through Marley’s words, we learn how three magical spirits opened Scrooge’s eyes and made him realise the true value of love and forgiveness.

I’ve had a cheeky little tip-off (at least I think it was, in any case I’ve not seen it reported anywhere else yet) that as a part of this year’s Christmas advertising campaign a coca cola truck will be cruising through Stafford and stopping off for a bit at Tesco. It’s a pretty early one for a Tuesday and I realise I’m playing a part in Coke’s advertising campaign but they’re pretty much a part of the 21st century Christmas at this point so good times had by all

If you want to see this head on over to Tesco for 8am next Tuesday (the 15th). From what I can find there will also be other Christmas-related things (Songs and so forth) to get folks into the spirit! You can also have a photo taken with the truck, which can then be collected from Coke’s website (Linked as the source of this article)

No related posts.

I’m sure anyone that is interested in a Stafford radio station knows about the recent appearance (and disappearance) of a few internet radio stations based in Stafford. It looks like one has climbed up the broadcast tower and plugged in to FM. Don’t get me wrong I’m a complete nerd so internet radio is fine and dandy for me, but I’m sure there are a lot of people unable to tune in due to a lack of legacy radio support!

A hearty kudos to you, Stafford FM!

Stafford FM is delighted to announce that after months of preparation, hard work & determination, we will be launching our services on FM from November.

Having applied for a 28 day restricted service licence (RSL), the regulatory body Ofcom broke the news to the Stafford FM team on Friday (16th September).

During our FM broadcasts, Stafford FM will be promoting even more community activities and showcasing the very best that Stafford has to offer, including the impressive Christmas lights switch on.

Stafford FM is a community radio station broadcasting online, & from midnight on FRIDAY 11th November, we’ll be Live across Stafford on 87.7 FM.

No related posts.

He’s written a brand new show, The Time Is Now, Again, specifically for the venue this brochure/leaflet refers to.* (*And about 40 others, but the point still stands.) Top class stand-up from one of the classiest, toppiest stand-ups around. You should come and see him.

Residents and visitors to Stafford are being invited to meet some of the area’s leading artists at a series of free Open Studios Weekends on 17th – 18th and 24th – 25th September, as part of Staffordshire’s Enjoy Art season.

Since 2002, Staffordshire Open Studios Weekends have seen thousands of people meet with artists and gain a unique insight into the techniques and inspiration behind the arts and crafts on display at artists’ Studios.

Visitors to Steven Eastwood’s studio will see a collection of work by the disabled sculptor, using one hand to form his art. A wide variety of different materials are used including stone, wood and resin Steven creates sculptures from busts to lifesize. Between 10:30am and 3:30pm on 24th – 25th September, Steven’s work will be on display at 10 Woodleyes Crescent, Wildwood.

Stafford based artist Freda Harris works with watercolour, mixed-media and acrylics to create experimental and rewarding art, inspired by changing weather and light conditions. Visitors can view her collection at 7 Hawkesmore Drive, Little Haywood on both Open Studios Weekends between 11am – 6pm on the Saturdays, and 11am – 5pm on the Sundays.

Artist Lisa Henderson will display her unique drawings and abstract, colourful paintings at her garden studio, between 2pm – 6pm, both Open Studios weekends. All of Lisa’s art is based on landscapes, including those of Staffordshire and her background as an art and design historian inspires her work. View Lisa’s work at The Garden House, 133A Cannock Road, Stafford.

Other artists exhibiting during the Open Studios Weekends in Stafford include Barbara Meek, Robin Ansell and Meg Farnden.

Sue Prince, Destination Staffordshire Ambassador for the arts said: “Staffordshire is a hot bed of creativity and inspiration. Many artists and craftsmen make a significant contribution in attracting visitors to the county. The Open Studios Weekends are a great way for visitors to learn about art, unearth, discover and meet new artists, and to find out about their inspirations.”

Staffordshire Enjoy Art has been established in partnership with Destination Staffordshire.

Dancers, musicians, and artists will be taking to the streets of Stafford for the town’s first ever ‘arts festival’.

As well as dancers and musicians providing a carnival atmosphere for the day, the event will include a range of art workshops from pottery to cake decorating, and a number of authors including Catherine Cooper and R.H. Stewart will be making an appearance at the Oak Room in the County Buildings throughout the day.

Performers in the town’s Market Square, Stafford will include professional samba drummers and dancers ‘Art Brazil,’ with Morris Men, Jazz and Stafford Brigade Youth Marching Band all entertaining members of the public.

Residents and visitors will also get the chance to go on free guided tours to uncover the history behind town landmarks, there is also an Art Trail and St Chad’s will be holding an exhibition about 1000 years of Staffordshire churches. Live music will be taking place at a number of pubs and the curtain will be brought down on the festival with local musician Derek Holt and friends performing in the Market Square.
